Job Title: CAD Designer II
Job Location:  Rockbridge, VA
Possible HYBRID position (70% on site, 30% work from home) for the right individual

Position Description
The CAD Designer will be responsible for the development of chiller product designs using current CAD technology to meet customer requirements in the most economical manner. This position may report to a Senior Designer, Senior Level Engineer, or Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Designer will provide 2D and 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawing documentation and advance level design support for the creation of chiller and their subcomponents for multiple projects at the same time. 
  • The candidate may communicate directly with the customer’s engineering and/or design team, Modine suppliers or Modine facilities.
  • The designer will be in charge of creating approval drawings, shop floor detailed drawings, bill of materials, upload drawings to PDM system and support the routing process.
Education Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Industrial Design is preferred for some positions, especially in more specialized industries.
  • Completion of a technical training program or certification in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, CATIA) is highly valued.
Experience Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a CAD Designer or Drafting role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.).
  • Experience producing technical drawings, schematics, models, or blueprints.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and engineering practices relevant to the field (e.g., mechanical, architectural, civil).
  • Experience collaborating with engineers, architects, and project managers.
Preferred Skills & Competencies:
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes or construction methods, depending on industry.
  • Good communication and project documentation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of materials, tolerances, and fabrication techniques.
  • Knowledge of Chiller Designs or Basic Refrigeration Systems and its components is a plus
